Tesco has extended the application deadline for the third round of the “Start for the Future” application program. The deadline for submitting applications is November 14. The initiative primarily supports local community projects focusing on those under 25, and provides a total of 57 million forints for their support.

The department store chain is mainly looking for applications from institutions and organizations that want to develop the learning opportunities, skills and abilities of children and young people living in their immediate environment, nurture talents, organize programs and local community events for them, and improve the living conditions of those affected. However, the program also allows applications for other good causes serving the interests of local communities via the website www.tesco.hu/kozosseg.

The third round of Tesco’s “Start for the Future” program, which is one week longer than the original deadline, is now open until November 14th, for funding local projects that primarily have a positive impact on children, adolescents and young people. The community initiative aims to provide funding to institutions and organizations across the country that want to improve the living conditions of people under 25 living in their immediate environment. However, the program also leaves the opportunity for support open for applications serving other good causes – such as animals, the elderly or disadvantaged adults.

“Start for the Future” not only provides financial assistance, but also an opportunity for communities to shape the future together. The interesting thing about the program is that it leaves the final decision on the initiatives to be implemented in their living environment to the local people. Tesco store customers can vote for the applications forwarded by the professional jury, which, depending on the order of votes, win 500 thousand, 300 thousand, or 150 thousand forints each in all 60 districts. The store chain thus distributes a total of 57 million forints in support nationwide, with the most outstanding projects also receiving special awards.

In the second round, 164 organizations received the chance and financial assistance to organize, among other things, a school gastronomy club, a sustainability children’s conference, or create a green institutional courtyard suitable for experiential learning for children and young adults.

Tesco is mainly looking for applications from civil society organisations, associations, foundations, social cooperatives; privately owned non-profit SMEs; public education, higher education, social and healthcare institutions; museums and public cultural institutions, institutions providing library services; institutions providing family and child welfare services; condominiums and housing cooperatives; and informal groups in 6 categories: art and culture; education and skills development; community activities and building relationships; environmental and nature protection; physical and mental health; and the fight against food waste.
