There are few foods that we cannot live without. Bacon is definitely one of them. On the one hand, because of its fantastic taste, and on the other hand, because it can be used in many different ways, it will make pizza, hamburgers or our breakfast tastier. No matter how much we love it, we would bet that we can show you some information and statistics about meat that will shock you. Here are some interesting facts about bacon!
A delicacy more than three thousand years old
Bacon was “invented” long before our era, as early as 1500 BC, this part of pork was thinly sliced and fried by the Chinese. It came from Asia through the Roman Empire to Europe, where the English and French soon liked it, and a few hundred years later it became an integral part of the American diet. We can say that its popularity kept growing until the 1980s, when fatty, cholesterol-rich foods were considered particularly harmful and most trendy diets banished them entirely. The popularity of bacon began to skyrocket, which was ended by one of the American fast food chains, Hardee’s, when it created its first bacon hamburger in 1992. It became such an audience favorite that soon competing companies also copied the recipe for success.
