Tesco’s revenue was above 700 billion
In the 2011-12 fiscal year Tesco Hungary’s turnover augmented by 6 percent, thanks to innovations and to increasing the number of their services. Tesco Hungary’s gross revenue was HUF 705.2 billion, the retail chain opened 7 new stores and created 11,000m² of new floor space. Tesco’s 100-percent Hungarian poultry programme was very successful. Each month Tesco purchases 1,800 tons of poultry and 1,500 tons of pork from Hungarian suppliers. Tesco Hungary CEO Gerry Gray told our magazine that they realised investments in the value of HUF 19 billion last year and started cooperating with more Hungarian suppliers. They continued the Tesco Extra refurbishment programme and the Regional Supplier Forum, which helps Hungarian SMEs to become Tesco’s suppliers. Tesco Mobile, a joint venture with Vodafone was launched in April.
