The animal welfare grants have reached the farmers
This year, the drought, the drastic increase in the price of input materials and fodder have put livestock keepers in serious trouble. For this reason, within the framework of the animal welfare subsidies, the subsidy received to mitigate the burdens caused by the additional costs was paid out to the affected actors of the pig and poultry sector this year, in a total value of nearly HUF 7.2 billion.

The aim of the animal welfare subsidies is to compensate animal keepers for the costs resulting from additional obligations in the pig and poultry sector that go beyond the EU animal welfare regulations. In recent days, the Hungarian State Treasury has made payments based on more than 2,100 requests. II of the 2022/2023 subsidy year of the poultry animal welfare subsidy. almost 3.1 billion forints per quarter, in the case of animal welfare subsidies for pig fattening, the 2022 subsidy year III. HUF 2.4 billion was paid out for the quarter. For breeding sow farmers, the Treasury has started II. fulfillment of requests received for the quarter. The payment – nearly HUF 1.7 billion – has already been made to 542 producers, the subsidies that have not yet been paid will be paid to the affected producers in January.
