Fresh egg exports doubled in 2025
According to KSH data, Hungary purchased 18 thousand tons of shell eggs from the international market in the first eleven months of 2025 (–17 percent compared to the same period of the previous year), of which it imported 21 percent less, 14.5 thousand tons of fresh eggs. Shell egg exports decreased by 3 percent to 9.4 thousand tons, of which fresh egg exports amounted to 2.3 thousand tons (+101 percent) between January and November 2025.

According to AKI PÁIR data, the packing house price of caged table eggs (M+L) in Hungary was 69.26 forints/piece in the first three weeks of 2026, which exceeded the average price of the same period of 2025 by 4.9 percent. The packing house price of M size-class boxed eggs increased by 5.1 percent to HUF 71.46/piece, while that of L size-class boxed eggs decreased by 1.1 percent to HUF 79.49/piece. The packing house price of M trayed eggs increased by 8.7 percent to HUF 64.94/piece, and that of L trayed eggs increased by 2.0 percent to HUF 67.67/piece. The packing house price of deep-litter table eggs (M+L) was HUF 78.87/piece at the same time.
