Syngenta’s sunflower portfolio is even more promising
Syngenta sunflower hybrids are cultivated on more than three hundred thousand hectares every year in Hungary, making sure the company retains its market leading position. The company's forecasts reveals that the cultivation of the high-oil content sunflower oil is a growing opportunity for the domestic farms
The past two years was especially effective for the sunflower farms. Harmat Ákos, Syngenta’s sunflower expert summed the results of the past two years at the event organized for the farmers. In 2014, 1.56 million tons of sunflower seeds were harvested by the farmers, which is the largest amount in the past ten years. The average yield was 2.67 tons. In spite of the extraordinary drought, 1.53 million tons were harvested in 2015, with a 2.5 tons per hectare average yield.
