The Food Bank provided ten billion forints worth of food to the needy
Last year, the Magyar Élelmiszerbank Egyesület saved food worth about HUF 10 billion and delivered it to the needy, thereby providing assistance to about 240,000 needy people.
The Association saved almost one and a half times as much food as the previous year, in order to keep up with the growing needs of the needy, the organization told MTI.
Last year, the Food Bank added another two hundred and twenty-five stores to its network, thus increasing the number of stores from which surpluses are collected every day by one and a half times. Thus, after Tesco, Aldi, Metro, Auchan, KFC and Foodpanda, Lidl and Penny have also become significant suppliers. In addition to the units of commercial chains, during the year, goods were saved from another 94 companies, food manufacturers, traders, agricultural producers and restaurants.
