Increase in retail sales: it did not happen yet
Volume sales by retail units in August were practically at the same level as last year. Sales fell by 3.3 percent in the first eight months of the year. KSH’s quick report reveals that volume sales in August decreased by 0.6 percent from the July level. The domestic retail network and mail order companies generated sales of HUF 4,733 billion in the first eight months, of which HUF 662 billion was realised in August.
Food and food type products represented 45 percent of retail sales; sales by food stores decreased by 2.8 percent in the first eight months of 2010 and remained stable in August. In August 2010 hypermarkets, supermarkets and small shops – which represent 91 percent of sales – sold 1.3 percent less.
