Waterfowl farmers to receive additional support this year
Since the waterfowl sector has faced serious challenges in the recent period due to avian influenza and market conditions, waterfowl farmers participating in the poultry animal welfare program will receive a one-off and additional support of nearly 1.5 billion forints this year.

The legal basis for the additional support is Decree 11/2019. (IV. 1.) AM on the conditions of animal welfare support available in the poultry sector, based on which animal farmers participating in the program – including waterfowl farmers – fulfill animal welfare commitments that go beyond domestic and national regulations. The Ministry of Agriculture has issued a special grant for waterfowl farmers participating in the poultry animal welfare program for the 2024/2025. The Hungarian State Treasury is providing the additional support retroactively, as a one-off, to satisfy the support requests submitted for the first and second quarters of the support year (April 16, 2024 – October 15, 2024). The nearly 1.5 billion forints became available for use within the framework of this program through unclaimed agricultural support in other areas. The Hungarian State Treasury is doing everything possible to ensure that the additional support is paid to the affected livestock keepers as soon as possible.
