You can join the Smile Bag sale for one more week
For one more week, unused school bags can be handed in to the Pont Velem Okos Program, the Magyar Máltai Szeretetszolgálat and GLS Hungary to support the start of school for children living in difficult situations. You can join the Smile Bag campaign at 76 designated collection points of the Charity Service and in many elementary schools across the country. The organizers are waiting for donations until September 16, who want to provide 1,500 needy children with school supplies.
For the fourth time, the Maltese Charity Service and the Pont Velem Okos Program announced their summer fundraising campaign with the support of GLS. In the Smile Bag campaign, children whose families have difficulty in acquiring the necessary equipment for the start of the school year can receive support. In previous years, an average of 1,300 bags were collected, and this year the charity hopes to help 500 children start school.
The organizers invite schoolchildren to make a Smile Bag from their outgrown, bored, but still in good condition or newly purchased schoolbags. Fill your unblemished and still usable bag with school supplies in good condition or with new ones, but you can even leave a personal message inside for the bag’s new owner, and then take the donation to the collection points of the Maltese Charity Service or hand it in to your teacher. The donations received by the schools are delivered by GLS Hungary to the charity organization’s warehouses.
