The homeless in Japan prefer McDonald's for the night
Due to the country's economic problems a lot of middle-aged people are loosing their livelihoods and houses in Japan. A growing number of those who are unemployed for a long, are trying to spend the night in McDonald's restaurants and in 0-24 shops.
The phenomenon is so widespread that a term has evolved in everyday language: These homelesses mostly in their thirties and forties are called “makudo nanmin” that means: McDonald's refugees – the Asahi Simbun Japanese newspaper writes. (MTI)
