A McDonald’s Truck opened at the Nyugati railway station
The McDonald’s truck opened next to the Nyugati railway station to serve those who want a cheeseburger and Big Mac while the Nyugati tér restaurant is closed for renovations.
The Nyugati tér McDonald’s opened 34 years ago, in 1990, and is considered one of the most beautiful McDonald’s restaurants in the world. As one of the last stages of the transformation program of the domestic restaurant chain, it is expected to be renewed in half a year at a cost of more than one and a half billion forints. The interior of the listed building is being rebuilt using special interior design elements and natural materials. Located on the main wall shared with one of Budapest’s architectural symbols, the Nyugati railway station, the building, like the railway station, bears the hallmarks of the historicizing, neo-renaissance and neo-romantic periods. The restaurant keeps these style elements to this day and will keep them after the transformation. However, in terms of the restaurant experience, the restaurant chain is preparing with very 21st-century solutions, as it will await guests with a digital guest experience provided by the “Jövő Élménye” restaurant concept. In addition, it is expected to open its doors again in the autumn in an exclusive form, faithful to the historical past of the location, using elements made from real, natural, even handcrafted materials covering even the smallest details.
