Starting today, restaurants, and from April, pastry shops, can also apply for the 5+5 million forint loan and support scheme
As part of the government’s 5+1-point hospitality industry action plan announced in January 2026, financing combining loans with grants will also be available to pastry shops from April 8. Within the framework of the “5+5” financial construction, in addition to the Start loan of 5 million forints from the Kisfaludy Tourism Credit Center (KTH), pastry shop operators will also be able to access a non-refundable grant of 5 million forints thanks to the Kisfaludy Program. The 10 million forints of resources thus available will be a significant help in strengthening their competitiveness and implementing their development ideas. Details of the campaign for pastry shops can already be found on the website of the Kisfaludy Tourist Credit Center, which provides the loan, and the Kisfaludy Program, which provides the support.
Hungarian pastry is built on centuries-old traditions: the elegance of the monarchy and the unique character of Hungarian cuisine are both reflected in it. Our iconic desserts – such as Dobos cake, Eszterházy cake, Rigó Jancsi or Somlói galuska – are part of the Hungarian identity. The legacy of the greats of the profession – including the work of Dobos C. József, Emil Gerbeaud, Henrik Kugler, Rezső Hauer or Elek Auguszt – combined with the innovative spirit and creativity of today’s masters have raised Hungarian pastry to a high international level.
There are currently more than 3,000 pastry shops operating in our country, making them indispensable players not only in domestic hospitality, but also in everyday life, holidays, family and community occasions. The revenue of pastry shops that provide data to the National Tourism Data Service Center (NTAK) approached 127 billion forints last year, which also clearly demonstrates their economic importance.
Hospitality is the “soul” of tourism, which is why the government is encouraging the development of the strategic sector with targeted programs. Thus, as part of the 5+1 action plan announced in January 2026, it will also make the new, combined financing option available to pastry shops after restaurants. From April 8, 2026, within the framework of the “5+5” financial construction, pastry shop operators can also apply for an additional 5 million forints of non-refundable support in addition to their 5 million forints KTH Start loan. This will provide a total of 10 million forints to pastry shops to ensure their development and stable operation. “I am convinced that the wide-open use option will be a serious motivation for them, as the support can help to realize all the development ideas of the pastry shops, from smaller investments to strengthening their daily operations,” – stated Anikó Suhajda-Molnár, CEO, on behalf of the Kisfaludy Program, which provides the source of the support, at the press conference.
Gusztáv Láving, CEO of the Kisfaludy Tourism Credit Center (KTH), emphasized that currently every third application comes to KTH in the 2=3 promotion available since the end of January, which clearly shows the strong interest in hybrid financing. The reception of the 5+5 construction may be even more successful, since the total amount of 10 million already offers greater development opportunities. He also added that even the smallest players in the sector can count on KTH as a long-term financial partner in implementing their business growth plans.
The loan application can be initiated exclusively online, from NTAK, and the entire process is digital and fast.
The most important conditions of the non-refundable subsidy for pastry shops:
- can be applied for once, and a pastry shop can only apply for one subsidy,
- its application is subject to a positive KTH loan decision and a signed loan agreement,
- is based on data provided by NTAK,
- the operator has sent daily closing and turnover data for the days it is open to NTAK for at least 210 days in 2025,
- it has sent daily closing and turnover data for the days it is open to NTAK in the 20 days preceding the application,
- the net sales revenue of the pastry shop operator has reached or exceeded 12 million forints in the past 12 per month.
The main features of KTH Start loans:
- can be applied for without collateral or guarantor,
- 3–5 year term,
