Auchan to open second outlet in Romania
French retailer Auchan has said it will invest €40 million on its second outlet in Romania, which will be situated in the northwestern city of Targu Mures.The hypermarket will begin operations in autumn 2007, and will have a sales area of 8,500 sq m.
Auchan plans to open other three outlets in Romania, in
Cluj-Napoca, Pitesti and Bucharest, in the second half of 2007, while in 2008
it will open stores in Constanta and Timisoara. MGV Distri-Hiper Romania, the
operator of the first Auchan hypermarket, reported a loss of €4 million for
2006, on revenues of €19 million ($25.8 million)
