The purchasing manager index has improved after one and a half year
The total performance of the manufacturing industry has improved in August, in the United States. This is the first month, during the past year and a half, when the sector’s purchasing manager index marked improvement, compared to the previous month.
According to the American Institute for Supply Management (ISM) the manufacturing activity index increased to 52.9 points in August from the 48.9 points of July slightly over expectations. The subindex reflecting on new orders increased to 64.9 in August from the 55.3 points of July and the production index from 57.9 points to 61.9 points – reports Menedzsment Fórum.
