Mars is currently the world’s leading confectionery company in terms of revenue. The Snickers-producer that generated US$22 billion in revenue was helped to this position by the fact that The Hershey Company, fourth in the ranking with US$10 billion in revenue, a few weeks ago refused to accept a takeover bid from Mondelēz International, the second largest with US$14 billion. If the deal had gone through, Mondelēz would have taken the lead in the global confectionery market.
Ferrero, which owns the Kinder brand, came third with $13 billion in revenue, while Nestlé, known for its popular KitKat, came fifth among the confectionery titans.
