Marked price rise for grain
The prices of agricultural produce were 6.4 per cent up in June 2007, compared to June 2006. The prices of plant produce were up by 12.6 per cent, whereas that of animal products and livestock fell by 0.6 per cent. The average price of grain produce was 28.9 per cent higher in June 2007 than a year before. The average price of industrial plants grew by 12.3 per cent. Potato showed a price increase of 10.9 per cent, while vegetable prices fell by 13.9 per cent. Fruits were 9.8 per cent more expensive on average than a year earlier. The average price of livestock intended for slaughter fell by 5.4 per cent, with the price of swine falling by 12 per cent. The price of poultry grew by 10.1 per cent, whereas that of eggs was up by 14.7 per cent. The price of milk rose by 6.7 per cent.
