From March no more HUF 1, 2 coins
The ratio of lost 1 and 2 forint coins has been very high for years and the price of base materials, primarily copper, nickel and zinc, also rose considerably in the past years.
Commercial facilities will need to round up or down only the
subtotal of the purchase, not the individual items. The rounding does not mean
that the last digit of the price of individual items must be 0 or 5. The
pricing practices of producers and retailers will not change considerably in
most cases. Round prices have not been used for high-value items, anyhow.
The last time Hungary withdraw a coin from circulation (50 fillér) was in 1999.
