Retail sales in the euro area and the EU increased in March
Retail sales in the euro area grew more than expected in March, according to a quarterly report from Eurostat, the European Union’s statistical office. Turnover from mail order and internet sales, which is necessary for working from home and in high demand due to contact restrictions, increased by more than a third year-on-year.
Retail sales in the euro area rose by 2.7 percent and in the European Union by 2.6 percent in March compared with the previous month. Turnover in the euro area was 12.0 percent higher than a year before and in the European Union 11.6 percent. (MTI)
