Annual inflation in the Czech Republic was 2.7 percent in March as well
In March, consumer prices in the Czech Republic increased by 2.7 percent year-on-year, the same as in February. In a monthly comparison, inflation was 0.1 percent, the Czech Statistical Office announced on Thursday in Prague.
According to statisticians, food and non-alcoholic beverages in particular became more expensive, while fuel prices fell compared to February levels.
According to market analysts, the main trends in inflation in the Czech Republic have not changed. However, it is generally believed that the unpredictable tariff policy of US President Donald Trump will have a major impact on price developments in the near future.
“In March, prices increased by 2.7 percent compared to the third month of last year, the same as in February. The increase in food prices was almost completely offset by the decrease in fuel prices,”
– Pavla Sedivá, the director of the statistical office, told journalists at a press conference. According to Sedivá, the prices of gasoline and diesel were at their lowest in March since the autumn months of last year.
