The 5+5 million forint loan and support scheme for restaurants can be applied for from the end of March
As part of the government’s 5+1-point hospitality industry action plan announced in January 2026, new, combined financing will be available to restaurants from March 23. Within the framework of the “5+5” financial construction, restaurant operators will also receive a non-refundable grant of 5 million forints in addition to a KTH Start loan of 5 million forints. This will provide a total of 10 million forints in significant assistance in strengthening their competitiveness and in successfully preparing for the upcoming high season. Details of the campaign are available on the website of the Kisfaludy Tourism Credit Center, which provides the loan, and the Kisfaludy Program, which provides the subsidies.
With the 5+5 scheme, the government combines the advantages of a preferential loan and a non-refundable subsidy, providing a new opportunity for growth and development for restaurants, which represent the largest segment of the hospitality sector in terms of both business and employment volume.
Gusztáv Láving, CEO of the Kisfaludy Tourism Credit Center (KTH), highlighted at the press conference: KTH Start loans provide financing accessible to micro, small and medium-sized enterprises operating in tourism, as well as to tax-registered individuals and sole proprietors, to implement their growth plans. Regarding the new 5+5 combined scheme that will soon be opened for restaurants, he highlighted that the aim was to provide the hospitality sector with a stable, predictable source of funding to support daily operations and developments. The special feature of the scheme is that the 5 million forint grant can only be applied for in addition to a 5 million forint KTH Start loan.
The loan application can only be initiated online, from the National Tourism Data Service Center (NTAK), and the entire process is digital and fast.
Financing works well if it adapts to the needs of businesses, highlighted Anikó Suhajda-Molnár, CEO of the Kisfaludy Program, which provides the source of non-refundable support. Therefore, restaurants can use the support portion flexibly for a variety of purposes, such as purchasing equipment, financing their operating costs, digitalization, and developments to improve service standards. The goal is for operators to prepare for the next peak season with a stable operating background and strengthened,” said CEO Anikó Suhajda-Molnár.
