Rejoy and its parent company have already paid more than 40 billion forints to sellers for refurbished devices
In four markets including Hungary, Rejoy.hu and its parent company have now paid out more than 40 billion forints to individuals who sold their used devices to the company. In addition to the Hungarian, Romanian, Bulgarian and Greek sites, more than 360 thousand users have sold their unwanted devices since December 2019. The number of individual sellers in the four markets increased by an average of more than 40 percent year-on-year. Refurbished smartphones continue to generate the most sales, of which iPhones are the most sought-after – at the regional and domestic level, these accounted for 55 percent of the sales. Rejoy.hu and its parent company, Flip Technologies, which gives new life to refurbished electronic devices, have reached an important milestone: the company has now paid out more than 40 billion forints to sellers in its four markets (Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece).
The company, founded in December 2019, now has more than 360,000 users in four countries (online and offline, through rebate/buyback programs) who have purchased at least one device through it.
In addition to selling on its own site, the company also places great emphasis on a rebate program with partners, and the proportion of inventory coming from telecommunications service providers, retailers, manufacturers and distributors has increased by one and a half times compared to 2024.
The number of individual sellers has increased by more than 40 percent annually on average since 2021, indicating a growing interest in the circular economy and openness to smart technology purchasing alternatives. Phones remain the leading product category on the platform, with Apple iPhones generating around 55 percent of accepted sales.
The consistently high activity shows that sellers choose Rejoy because of its simple and predictable process: selling a previous device can cover up to 60 percent of the price of a more modern, more capable, refurbished device.
Rejoy and its parent company have sold around 400,000 devices across its four markets, including phones, tablets, smartwatches, laptops and game consoles. Sales volume is primarily driven by users aged 25-44, who are the most active on the platform.
This Christmas season, Rejoy is finding that smartphones continue to be a popular gift. The next seasonal milestone is expected next January, when more users than usual will send their old devices to the company for sale – from January 15, 2026, Rejoy will work with an extra coupon and increased price purchase campaign to replenish its stocks for next year.
