France is no longer the number one trading partner of Germany
The United States became the top destination for German exports last year, overtaking France for the first time since 1961 thanks to an upturn in the U.S. economy and a weaker euro – Destatis, Germany's Statistics Office announced on Saturday.
According to the preliminary data of the German Statistical Office (Destatis), trade between the United States and Germany amounted to 173.2 billion euros, so the United States surpassed France (170.1 billion euros) and the Netherlands (167.7 billion euros) as Germany's biggest trading partner.
