Tender for more effective treatment of animal diseases now available
A tender for the fight against antimicrobial resistance has been published, which will provide significant assistance to livestock farmers in the more effective treatment and prevention of animal diseases. According to the government’s decision, an increased amount of support, 11.9 billion forints, can be used for this purpose, announced the State Secretary for Agricultural and Rural Development Support at the Ministry of Agriculture.

According to József Viski, as a continuation of the tender called “Compensation payment for the fight against antimicrobial resistance (AMR)” announced last year, the Ministry of Agriculture has announced the “AMR2” tender call – with expanded content and an increased amount of support – contributing to the responsible, sustainable use of antimicrobials and the prevention of the development of antimicrobial resistance. He explained that the support is available in livestock-type, large-scale commercial pig, poultry or cattle farms, and can be used for activities (target areas) such as sampling and resistance testing, semi-annual review of a developed antibiotic use reduction plan and use of an electronic data collection system. The State Secretary highlighted that thanks to the increased support amount, beneficiaries can receive approximately EUR 3,100 per farm per year under the new call – if all target areas are jointly undertaken and adhered to. The application titled “KAP-RD33b-2-25 Compensation payment for combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR)” was published with a 4-year commitment period starting from May 1, 2025, and applications for support will be open from May 26, 2025 to June 27, 2025 – added József Viski.
