You can now order exotic rides from Uber
Uber has expanded its offering with a new exotic service: Users can now book three-hour guided safaris in Kenya using the app. The ride-hailing company aims to capture a bigger slice of the East African country’s $4.3 billion tourism industry.
From car to helicopter, boat – now safari
Uber has been continuously expanding beyond traditional passenger transportation in recent months. Uber Copter and Uber Boat services were announced in Italy in June, and Uber Boat celebrated its one-year return in Budapest with a seasonal launch. Now, the company has taken things to the next level in Africa.
Nairobi National Park on offer
The newly launched Uber Safari is available in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, where it offers day and night tours through the app. During the three-hour guided tours, passengers can get up close and personal with iconic wildlife, including lions and rhinos.
Tourists and business travelers in the crosshairs
Uber has been present in Kenya for a decade and aims to appeal to domestic tourists and business travelers with the new experience-based service. According to a Bloomberg report, the move fits into the company’s strategy, which would take an active role in the premium tourism and mobility markets in addition to car rides.
