“Bar code” was already used in ancient times
Italian archaeologists have discovered “bar code” on the closing plugs of ancient amphoras. The recorded informations can be found on pottery used for carrying primarily oil. These artifacts can help in identifying the ancient trade routes.
One hundred and fifty thousand pieces of ancient artifacts were found in the ancient sewers of Aquileia, Northern Italy. The function of the ancient bar codes was to identify the origin of the pottery, the destination and the product – told Maurizio Brora, Archaeologist. (MTI)
