This year’s Balaton season can start this weekend
Currently fluctuating between 17-18 degrees Celsius, the water temperature of Lake Balaton, often referred to as the “Hungarian Sea,” is anticipated to reach or even exceed 20 degrees over the upcoming weekend due to the forecasted sunny and warm weather.
According to Időkép, the lake’s water temperature typically fluctuates by about 1-1.5 degrees daily. Changes in water temperature are influenced by various environmental factors such as air temperature, sunlight intensity, wind speed, and water depth. While precise predictions can be challenging, it is generally observed that with an ambient temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius, Lake Balaton’s water temperature warms by approximately one degree every 2-3 days. With the favorable weather forecast, weekend beach-goers can look forward to enjoyable swimming conditions.
