Drugstores holding largest market share in body lotions
Hand and body lotions are expanding categories with sales showing an increase of 10 per cent in terms of value and 8 per cent in terms of quantity last year. Body lotions account for 85 per cent of sales in this category, in terms of value. The market share of private labels is lower than average at 11-14 per cent. Average consumer prices dropped in both segments last year. The market shares of different store types show notable changes. The market share of drugstores exceeded that of hyper markets for the first time last year. Drugstores had already taken the lead in the segment of hand lotions before 2007. The market shares of different store types in this segment did not change last year.
