Humans may grow cocoa for 3600 years
Analyzing the genetic resources of today’s cocoa trees, scientists have discovered that the cultivation and breeding of the raw material of chocolate has begun about 3600 years ago.
Scientists from 11 institutions participated in the research published in Communications Biology scientific journal. The experts also revealed that taste, resistance, and theobromine content were the main aspect of the breeding process. Theobromine is a stimulant produced by the cocoa plant. (MTI)
