We have already announced a tender worth 1,500 billion forints for the development of agriculture
Within the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy Strategic Plan, the Ministry of Agriculture has already published 46 calls for proposals, with a total of 1,502 billion forints in resources – announced István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture, at the Cooperative Day of the National Association of Agricultural Cooperatives and Producers, on Friday.
At the event, the Minister highlighted that every hardworking hand is needed in agriculture in order to face the challenges and find the right answers to drought or animal diseases. We can also thank farmers for the fact that our daily bread is not in danger. The government is renewing Hungarian agriculture and the food industry with historic resources. In the CAP Strategic Plan, we are spending more than 5,651 billion forints on agriculture. Based on the government’s latest decision, agricultural and rural development accounts for about 55 percent of this amount – the Minister highlighted.
The minister also mentioned that a total of about 7,000 support applications have been received so far, with a support request of more than 1,800 billion forints. On average, the oversubscription in investment applications is about three times. For example, the oversubscription for support for the development of livestock farms and the complex renovation of processing plants was almost five times. The numbers clearly show the development potential in the sector, that agriculture is the future. We are in a period of the 21st century rebirth of the Hungarian agriculture and food industry, the minister added.
