Retail sales in Romania increased by 2.5 percent in May year-on-year
According to raw data, retail sales in Romania increased by 2.5 percent in May compared to the previous month, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced on Monday.
The data adjusted for calendar effects show a 2.7 percent increase in May sales.
According to raw data, sales revenue from the distribution of food products was 0.2 percent lower than in May 2024, while non-food products increased by 6.3 percent and fuels decreased by 1.4 percent.
According to calendar effects, sales decreased by 1 percent in the case of food products, while non-food products and fuels increased by 7.7 and 1.2 percent, respectively.
Compared to April, retail sales in Romania increased by 0.1 percent according to raw data, and decreased by 0.5 percent according to calendar and seasonally adjusted data.
In the first five months of the year, retail sales in Romania were 2.6 percent higher in raw data and 3.5 percent higher in calendar-adjusted data than in the same period in 2024.
Sales from food distribution decreased by 1.2 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively, in raw data and calendar-adjusted data.
