Euro area’s retail sales decreased further after May
In June, retail sales decreased by 0.2 percent after the 0.5 percent decline of May, while analysts expected an increase of 0.3 percent. On an annual basis, the rate of decline was 2.4 percent.
Throughout Europe, however, a 0.1 percent increase of retail sales had been measured in June, after the 0.6 percent decline of May. On an annual basis, the rate of sales decline was 1.7 percent.
In June, the food, alcohol and tobacco sales fell 0.2 percent in the euro area, while stagnated in the whole EU. In the non-food sector, there is a 0.2 percent decline in the euro area, but in the EU there was already a 0.3 percent growth – reports ProfitLine.hu.
