Until May 5, local organizations can take part in Tesco’s program from nearly half a billion forints
The application period for Tesco’s “You choose, we help” program has been extended. In the 13th round, local communities can apply until May 5 for a total of HUF 42 million in support via the website www.tesco.hu/kozosseg. In recent years, the company has provided nearly HUF 450 million in support to 1,742 local organizations in 323 Hungarian settlements. This increases the total support value of the program to almost HUF 500 million this year, from which approximately 180 more organizations can benefit in the current round. Tesco will reward the most creative and innovative tenders with a special prize this time as well.
Local organizations, friendly communities, non-foundation nurseries, kindergartens and schools, as well as non-profit small and medium-sized enterprises, even condominiums and housing cooperatives, who wish to contribute to the development of the life of the local community with their initiative can apply for Tesco’s application. The special feature of the program lies in the fact that Tesco entrusts the distribution of the financial framework available in the current round to local customers, as they are the ones best able to judge which of the pre-juried initiatives they consider the most deserving of support. Based on their votes, the first place in the district receives HUF 400,000, the second with the most votes receives HUF 200,000, and the third receives HUF 100,000.
During 12 rounds, Tesco customers voted with more than 27.6 million tokens to support communities living near their place of residence in Tesco’s “You choose, we help” program. Their total weight would weigh just as much on the scales as an adult gray whale. With their votes, those participating in the decision contributed to the implementation of 1,742 tender projects in 323 Hungarian settlements, for which the department store chain provided nearly HUF 450 million in resources.
In the current round, applications can be submitted through the program’s website until May 5. Once again, the applications received will be judged by the independent experts of the Effekteam Association, and they will select which initiatives can go on to the store voting stage. After that, between July 10 and August 6, 2023, Tesco customers can decide with their votes which initiative should receive how much support.
