May 17th is a holiday for lovers of Hungarian small-brew beers
On Saturday, May 17, Hungarian small breweries will once again open their doors to the public as part of a nationwide program. This year, Open Brewery Day will once again focus on beers made with special spices, special hopping methods, or aged in various barrels.
As beer lovers have become accustomed to over the past five years, breweries will reopen across the country in the spring! The goal of the initiative is once again to take beer lovers and those interested in gastronomy directly to the breweries.
The participating small breweries will offer the opportunity to tour the brewery, taste beer, and buy beer. Gábor Knap, the main organizer of the event, informed that since the first time in 2020, interested parties have been able to visit about 40 different breweries nationwide on Open Brewery Day, and according to the organizers’ calculations, about 500 group brewery visits have taken place.
“This year, we did not prepare a special beer type, but asked the breweries joining the initiative to present at least one seasonal novelty to those who come to them in addition to their most popular product,”
– said the main organizer. He added that with this, they would like to highlight the characteristic of small breweries that they can react to trends with amazing speed, a fashion wave passes through the system in weeks, so consumers should carefully follow the communication of breweries if they do not want to miss out on a new product.
