The MONKEY 47 brand Distiller’s Cut ultra-premium gin, whose 2024 edition promises an unforgettable taste journey into the world of special herbs and Mediterranean trattorias, is for gin lovers and lovers of special flavors.

Known for its German traditions and ultra-premium quality, MONKEY 47 comes up with collector’s rarities every year: for nearly fifteen years, it has been inviting gin lovers on an exciting taste journey with its limited edition Distiller’s Cut gins, which are made every year with the addition of an exceptional, unique plant. This year, the focus of the recipe is on Capparis, better known as capers – a Mediterranean wonder that came to the attention of the brand’s gin experts due to its unique salty taste and rich historical background.

The unique taste of Capparis

The unique aroma of capers in this year’s Distiller’s Cut, which complements Mediterranean dishes, refers to the natural harmony of sea and land. With its rich and salty flavor profile, it adds an aromatic depth to the herbal world of gin that also emphasizes the classic MONKEY 47 ingredients. A bold yet exciting choice that embodies all the creativity that MONKEY 47 is known for with its exclusivity and sophistication.

A tradition of discovery

Every year, MONKEY 47 looks for an inspiring, new ingredient for its iconic drink, so the recipe, which is known to consist of 47 ingredients, becomes exclusive with the addition of a 48th, carefully selected ingredient – “Species Rara” – in the limited edition.

“Botanical curiosity, an obsessive pursuit of quality and a determination to find special aromas, this is Species Rara. This year’s trip led our experts to the harsh beauty of the Mediterranean region, where Capparis added an exciting wild energy and a drop of sea aroma to the carefully created recipe.

– explains Alexander Stein, founder of the MONKEY 47 brand, and then adds: “Last year we found what we were looking for in Canada, but this year we found the 48th botanical ingredient in our favorite Italian restaurant.”

The story began with a traditional Italian dish, which was nothing more than spaghetti with anchovies and capers. The homemade, yet classic taste experience made it immediately obvious that the capers, which provide a delicious symphony of flavors, can do more than decorate a well-proven recipe. The next step was to find the perfect berry, which is how the experts arrived at the volcanic island of Pantelleria in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, in the Strait of Sicily.
