Bunge to bring some production to Hungary
Bunge Limited, a leading global agribusiness and food company, has decided to close its plant in Oradea, Romania due to high costs and move some of the plant's capacity's to Hungary.
Managing director said operating costs at the Oradea plant
were much higher than in Martfû, Hungary or the other Romanian site in Iasi. Ever-stricter
operating requirements would demand massive investments from Bunge to modernise
out-of-date machinery and this is a burden they do not wish to bear.
"In 2007, we will expand capacity at our sunseed crushing plant in Martfû,
Hungary to grow our presence in Eastern Europe.
