One in five people is low-paid in Hungary
According to the datas of Eurostat, released on Thursday, the proportion of low-paid people was 17 percent in 2010 in the Member States of the EU 27.
In Hungary, the low-income threshold is 2.3 euros per hour. 19.8 percent of the employees are low-paid including 21.5 percent of women and 18.1 percent of men.
According to the methodology of EU's statistical office those considered as low-paid workers whose total income is the two-third of the country’s average income or less. Due to the methodology that there are large differences between countries, for example, the threshold is 1 euro in Bulgaria, and 16.6 euros in Denmark. (MTI)
