The first brownfield approach RISE with SAP implementation in Hungary was successfully implemented at Alteo
Alteo Plc., Hungary’s leading renewable energy company, has successfully completed the implementation of the SAP S/4HANA enterprise management system. The project was completed in just nine months, making it the first company in Hungary to use the RISE with SAP project management package for a brownfield transition.
The decision to migrate Alteo to the SAP S/4HANA system is the result of long-term strategic considerations. The previous ECC6 system will no longer be supported by SAP from 2027, which made the transition urgent. The company recognized that delays could put business players, including energy players, at a disadvantage, as technological developments are essential to remain competitive. “Due to the expected transitions of market-leading energy companies, there will be fewer and fewer available specialists to support developments over time, which is why Alteo decided to migrate early,” says Ákos Peer, IT Director at Alteo.
Alteo opted for a brownfield migration, which ensured a smooth transition of existing systems and data to the new platform, while taking advantage of the RISE with SAP implementation methodology. The unique combination – combining the benefits of cloud-based solutions with the security of continuous operation of existing systems, with minimal custom development needs where possible – is a pioneering solution in the Hungarian energy industry. Alteo’s transition is not only technologically progressive, but also cost-effective: with the timely decision, the project was implemented within the fixed price tender before the consulting hourly fees were due, while maintaining the allocated budget.
