Hungary could be at the forefront of organic farming in a few years
At present, less than 6 percent of the total agricultural area in Hungary, about 300 thousand hectares, is organically farmed. The average for EU member states is 8.5 percent, with significant differences. In the leading Austria, Estonia and Sweden, the rate is over 20 percent, while in Malta, Romania, Bulgaria or Ireland it is less than 3 percent, they said.
Roszík Péter, CEO of Biokontroll, said in the statement: all the conditions for a large-scale change have been met. (MTI)
