Hungary came with a high-level representation to the preparatory meeting of the COP29 Climate Conference in Baku
The United Nations Climate Change Conference will be held in Baku between November 11-22. The purpose of the COP conferences is to continue global negotiations on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, measures against climate change and meeting the goals of the Paris Agreement. The preparatory round table for the large-scale event, which was organized by the Hungarian Embassy in Baku, took place on October 11.
Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, will host the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC COP 29) November 11-22. between. The COP29 Preparatory Round Table took place on October 11, where participants deliberated to advance climate change negotiations. They focused on progress on key priorities such as a long-term climate strategy, financial and technological support for vulnerable communities, the definition of new quantified commitments and measures to accelerate the implementation of the Paris Agreement. At the event, the climate policy discussion took place with nearly 70 participants from all over the world.
Our country is committed to sustainability and climate policy, within this framework it has set the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and continues the ambitious programs supporting energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. As an EU member state, Hungary undertakes strict climate goals and participates in the EU’s green transition strategy, which strengthens its international action.
