Hungary is at the forefront of agricultural digitalization
The Hungarian agricultural sector is at the forefront of innovation and digitalization, as data-driven production, precision farming, robotics and weather-resistant production are now an integral part of the domestic agriculture and food industry, emphasized Oszkár Ökrös, Deputy State Secretary, at the International Science and Innovation Week in Budapest.

The Deputy State Secretary responsible for international relations and European Union affairs said that Hungary adopted its Digital Agriculture Strategy in 2019. The essence of this is that Hungarian agriculture can simultaneously increase its productivity and competitiveness through modern technology, while meeting sustainability requirements. Oszkár Ökrös highlighted that Hungary places great emphasis on increasing the digital knowledge of agricultural actors, expanding digital innovation, developing data-driven administration and supporting investments serving the digital transformation. He added that artificial intelligence (AI) is also gaining ground in Hungarian agriculture, especially in decision support, as previously it took weeks to analyze unmanageable amounts of data, but now artificial intelligence can make recommendations and decisions in minutes. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is organizing the Regional Science and Innovation Week in Budapest for the second time, which is being held simultaneously with the global forum on green agriculture. The event aims to promote the greening of agri-food systems in FAO member countries, and to this end, the world organization provides a platform for knowledge sharing between regions and the dissemination of best practices in policies and strategies that promote the greening of agriculture.
