Hungary against food waste
The Member States of the European Union supported Hungary's call to reduce food losses and food waste. 14 countries immediately joined to the initative of Fazekas Sándor Hungarian Minister for Rural Development and ensure our country of their support.
The initiative was necessary, because the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that currently one third of food produced for human consumption is wasted. If we add the poverty and hunger, natural resource scarcity, and the lingering problems of the financial and economic crisis to this fact, it becomes clear that this situation should be remedied immediately on global, European and national levels.
