Association of Hungarian Bakers: 73 kilograms of bread consumed each year
Annually 73 kilograms of bread is consumed per capita – shows the datas of the Association of Hungarian Bakers. Two-thirds the sales volume is still white and half brown bread.
According to the Hungarian tradition, harvest starts on Peter, Paul's day and lasts until the feast of the new bread until the 20th of August. Compared to last year, the crop is good. 3.8 to 3.9 million tons of wheat was harvested in Hungary and the quality is also better. 1.3 million tons cover the domestic demand. Currently, the purchase price is around 48 to 50 thousand HUF per tons – reports delmagyar.hu / agromonitor.hu.
