Hungarian Grand Prix – Tourist agency: almost 40 percent more people came to Budapest
The 39th Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix brought an explosive weekend to the capital, which was also enhanced by the Ed Sheeran concert on July 20. According to the data of the National Tourist Information Center (NTAK), July 19-21. Budapest hosted 38 percent more foreign visitors and 36 percent more domestic travelers than last year. The number of nights spent by domestic and international guests both exceeded the turnover of the previous year’s competition weekend by 25 percent, the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ) told MTI on Friday.
According to their data, most people traveled to Budapest from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Poland, and Budapest hotels welcomed almost 85,000 guests.
July 19-21. between 2008 and 2010, almost 90 percent of the guests staying in Budapest came from across the country’s borders, and the 76,000 international tourists spent a total of 145,000 guest nights in the Hungarian capital.
Around 50 percent of the guest nights were enjoyed by hotels in the capital, and 39 percent by private and other accommodations during the Hungarian Grand Prix.
