A Hungarian-developed service supported by artificial intelligence can improve animal welfare and operational efficiency in dairy farms, Adutrade Farm Kft. told MTI.

The development works based on camera recordings of the farms, monitoring the movement of the herd – explains the company responsible for implementing the project. According to the description published on the tender website, the system is based on gait pattern analysis based on machine vision, which helps to screen out lameness, including early warning signs. In order to ensure the accuracy of the diagnosis, it detects physical changes in addition to the movement pattern, and based on these, it recognizes diseases of various origins. This enables the development of targeted treatment strategies, which is not possible with existing solutions – emphasizes the kft. The professional advice function based on diagnostics can also be a market advantage, as competing products usually only provide data, not an action plan. Relieving the burden on farmers is a particularly significant help amid the shortage of specialists, they added. The statement explains: lameness is one of the biggest sources of loss in dairy farms, cows suffering from this disease become deficient in energy and protein and produce less milk. The extent of the reduction can be as much as 40 percent, and the incidence of lameness in Hungarian dairy farms can reach 70 percent – they justified the development of the project, which received 232.82 million forints of non-refundable European Union support in the Széchenyi Plan Plusz program. Cosinus-Gamma Mezőgazdasági Termelő és Szolgáltató Kft. is also participating in the implementation of the project alongside Adutrade – the statement reads. According to the report of the Székesfehérvár-based company dealing with milking parlor and stable technology, it closed with a net sales revenue of 740.2 million forints in 2023 and 677.2 million forints in 2024, while its profit increased from 13.5 million forints to almost 20 million forints. Its services include, among other things, the installation of milking machines and milk coolers, the distribution of dairy raw materials and manure management – the company’s website states.
