Hungarian Food Bank Association: 1700 tons of food donations by the end of summer
The first round of the EU food aid program for 2013 is near completion. During the spring and early summer months the Hungarian Food Bank Association distributes 1700 tons of food.
The association is participating in the EU food aid program since 2006. The program is financed by the European Union and is organized by the Agriculture and Rural Development Office. The contracted aid organizations are: the Child Nutrition Foundation, the Catholic Charity, the Hungarian Food Bank Association, and the Hungarian Interchurch Aid Association.
In 2013, the Hungarian Food Bank Association distributes food donations through its 419 partner organizations to 447 000 people in 705. The 1700 tons of aid shipment of the first round is coming to an end, while the second round will be held in the fall and winter, with an expected further distribution of 3,000 tons of food products.
