Hungarian catering on American Airlines flights to Budapest

Since the Covid epidemic, there has been no direct connection between Hungary and the United States, while American previously also flew between Philadelphia and Budapest. The resumption of the direct connection fills a gap in the Hungarian market, as nearly 600,000 passengers currently travel between the two countries annually without a direct flight. The Philadelphia-Budapest route is operated by American Airlines with Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. Philadelphia is one of American Airlines’ most important distribution centers, so passengers can reach cities on the US West Coast, such as San Francisco, Seattle or Los Angeles, on the day of arrival.

Strict safety standards on board

Gastland Flight Catering has been present on the domestic market since 2014, offering catering services to commercial airlines and private aviation operators. The company will be responsible for the full range of catering services for Budapest-Philadelphia flights in three classes (Business, Premium Economy and Economy). There have also been examples where a long-haul flight had to be exclusively supplied with freshly procured ingredients from a given region, with precisely timed logistics.

In such cases, catering is of paramount importance: a precisely composed menu, nutritional balance, allergen management and ingredients that support regeneration are all decisive. The upcoming Champions League final is a particularly high-profile period in air transport and private aviation. During such sporting events, private aircraft traffic increases significantly, and expectations for on-board service also rise to a higher level.

According to Hölle Martin, CEO of Gastland Flight Catering – himself an 11-time world champion in horse-drawn carriages – the discipline and precision brought from the world of sports are also fundamental values ​​in catering.
