HUngarian wine-success at Dutch competition Proefschrift Wijnconcours
Merengő 2008 from Eger's St Andrea winery won the platinum award at the Amsterdam Proefschrift Wijnconcours, the biggest wine competition in the Netherlands, on October 10.
This means that this Bikavér Superior wine was selected as the best wine in the wine store category. Merengő was also recognized in the category of wines that cost between 20 and 30 euros, receiving a gold medal from the jury of chefs, journalists, sommeliers and educators.
The 2008 vintage of Örökké was granted the Prix du Sommelier, the special prize of sommeliers, and has thus become Holland's gastro wine of the year. We congratulate the St Andrea winery on its latest success. St Andrea's winemaker, György Lőrincz, is also the Hungarian Wine Academy's reigning Winemaker of the Year.
