Association of Hungarian Shopping Centers: many shops are in big trouble right now
Due to the extraordinary circumstances in some shopping centers, for example, the temperature of the common areas was raised by a few degrees during the summer, the shops were informed about this and their cooperation was requested in such a way that the temperature in their own shops was also raised – the Association of Hungarian Shopping Centers (MBSZ) told Pénzcentrum.

Sok bolt nem bírja az emelkedő rezsiköltségeket
However, this step seems to be only the tip of the iceberg, as our newspaper has learned from industry sources that the weak HUF and the unprecedented rise in energy prices are causing serious problems for tenants, which leads to the point that practically all Hungarian and international companies are closing stores and examines the workforce that can be dismissed, but mostly the actors of the Hungarian fashion industry are dancing on the edge of the abyss.
The currently known energy crisis will not survive the domestic malls, nor the stores operating in them. The price of both electricity and gas skyrocketed, and the cuts were already felt in the summer. As Pénzcentrum found out from MBSZ, “due to the extraordinary circumstances in some shopping centers, for example, in the summer period, the temperature of the common areas was raised by a few degrees”, which was already a clear sign that the energy situation was completely different from what we had known so far.
Giga buildings are lucky that, according to the association, the development of a sustainability strategy among shopping centers has already taken place recently. What’s more, the overall picture shows that energy saving and the green direction have long been of prime importance during operation, for example: LED developments have been going on for 5-10 years in shopping centers, where more modern, energy-saving and in many cases greener technologies and mechanical equipment are used.
And what can be expected in light of everything? Pénzcentrum’s article on the subject can be read here.
