Magyar Bankholding: Several foods became cheaper compared to February
In March, there were several product categories whose prices fell compared to the previous month, including dairy products and butter, which became cheaper by 3-3.7 percent, analysts of MKB Bank and Takarékbank’s Agricultural and Food Business Branch pointed out in the Central Statistical Office In response to the inflation data published by the Office (KSH) on Wednesday.
“Already in March, we were able to come across bigger promotions, but it is important that we see the base price of the products in the inflation data, so we will experience a more significant decrease than now if the products are not on sale, but the prices will be permanently lower,”
they added.
Compared to last March, food prices rose by 42.6 percent, and the price increase has been slowing for the third month in an annual comparison. Although there are some products that became cheaper in March, compared to February 2023, overall, food became more expensive by 1.5 percent.
“There are food categories whose products cost slightly more compared to February, but the trend is increasingly emerging that the burden of grocery shopping for households will probably no longer increase”
said senior analyst Csaba Héjja.
